The CEO of a large optometry chain today has confidently proclaimed that there must be a shortage of optometrists, despite the fact that in reality it’s just that no-one wants to work there.

Globally, optometry schools have been multiplying in number with many optometrists themselves feeling that an over-supply of graduates is already happening.

The CEO of the group in question told our reporters “We’ve tried everything we can to attract optometrists, but have had no luck. We’ve tried lowering salaries, increasing their patient workload and we’ve even tried denigrating the profession and amazingly, we can’t find anyone to work for us.
