The World Board of Optometry today announced that all optometry courses will now be required to include four units on podcasting.
Professor Glenda Stirrup of the WBO said in her statement “The key roles of an optometrist are to refract, manage eye health, and podcast. You cannot argue with this basic fact.”

Optometrists globally have joined the move towards podcasts, with experts estimating that 85% of general optometrists and 100% of contact lens specialists now have their own podcast.
When asked by our reporters whether this was a good move, Dr Gary Gerber of the industry leading ‘Optometry Power Hour’ live talk radio show seemed unfazed by the explosion in podcasts, telling us “Look, I think it’s great that optometrists follow their dreams. I’m not threatened at all. Are they teaching magic? Are they teaching wicked keytar solo’s? Until they do, I’ll be just fine”.
