Contact Lens Industry Announces Uniform Move From Base Curve To Cup Size

Changing the standard unit of size to cup size should simplify and re-energise a flaccid market

In a heated and at times emotional meeting today, the Baseline Unit of Standards in Technology (BUST) group reached an agreement to officially change the standard sizing of contact lenses from base curve to cup size.

President of the BUST group, Mr Silvio Gazunga, said that the change was in response to a request from contact lens manufacturers to help revitalise their flaccid industry.

Gazunga and his team of advisors spent 3 months completing intensive internet searches to identify the most appealing attributes which might help the industry gain more attention amongst a crowded market of user health care products.

Optometrists were cautious in their response to the change. Local optometrist Tim Kenny said “I think it’ll help arouse interest in the short term but before long patients will be able to buy their double D’s online at half the price even without a valid prescription, so yeah I’m probably still not going to bother fitting lenses any more”.
