The head of NASA’s deep space refractive error team today announced that the so called “hourglass nebula” actually is a regular nebula but with about a billion light years of astigmatism.
“This is the first time we’ve ever measured this much astigmatism. It’s full on. Hopefully this will at least stop people with 0.50 dioptres of astigmatism from claiming to be ‘legally blind’”.
