Scientists Shocked By Statue Of David’s Astigmatism Discovery

Michaelangelo may have been quite the prankster

Florence, Italy – Eye experts today announced that they have discovered that the famous Michaelangelo artwork, the statue of David, has approximately 3 dioptres of astigmatism.

A team led by well known Italian optometrist, Mario Crestani has discovered that not only does the famous statue have astigmatism, he is also hyperopic.

Crestani said, “what is most interesting is that by using topography and biometry, we have been able to deduce that David’s prescription in each eye is exactly +3.14/-3.14×180. When you substitute radians for degrees, that becomes Pi over Pi times Pi which equals….Pi! A mamma mia!”

Based on recently discovered journal entries, it is believed that this was an in-joke between Michaelangelo and his friend Leonardo Da Vinci.

Optometrists and ophthalmologists worldwide have heralded this discovery as one of the greatest eye care jokes in the B.C era (Before Cronea).

Crestani went on to say, “Even in this day and age, the statue continues to impress us. We have solved most of the mystery surrounding David. We know his unusually small penis was to help normal Italians seem huge to their wives and girlfriends, and we again thank Michaelangelo for this. The only mystery which remains is how there came to be a working credit card terminal in his butt-crack”.
